A spray dryer is an advanced device that converts liquid materials into powder or granular products by atomizing them and instantly drying them in a hot air stream. Its main advantage lies in its extremely fast drying process (typically taking only several seconds to tens of seconds), making it particularly suitable for heat-sensitive materials.
Basic operating procedure:
1. Pre-startup preparation: Check that all equipment components are securely connected, and ensure the air filtration system and air ducts are unobstructed.
2. System startup: First, turn on the exhaust fan and supply fan. Once the airflow stabilizes, activate the heating system and gradually raise the inlet air temperature to the preset value (usually 150–250°C, depending on the material).
3. Feeding and spraying: When the outlet air temperature reaches the required process level, start the peristaltic pump to feed the liquid into the atomizer (centrifugal or pressure type). Closely monitor the atomization quality and temperature changes inside the tower.
4. Product collection and shutdown: The dried powder falls into the collection bin, while fine particles are collected via a cyclone separator. After complete material collection, stop feeding first. Wait until residual material in the tower is fully blown out and the temperature drops below 70°C before turning off the heating system and fans.
Key precautions: Overheating must be strictly avoided during operation to prevent material charring; regularly inspect wear on the atomizing disc or nozzle; after shutdown, promptly clean any residue from the tower walls—especially for high-sugar or hygroscopic materials—to prevent clogging and cross-contamination.
