A spray dryer is a continuous drying device that directly converts liquid materials into powder or granules, suitable for solutions, emulsions, suspensions, and paste-like substances. During operation, the feed liquid is pumped to a nozzle, where it is dispersed into micron-sized droplets via a centrifugal disk, pressure nozzle, or air atomizer, significantly increasing the material's surface area. Filtered and heated air is then distributed by a hot air distributor into the drying tower, contacting the droplets in parallel, counter-current, or mixed flow patterns, causing rapid evaporation of moisture within seconds to tens of seconds. Since the material remains close to wet-bulb temperature for most of the process, spray drying is particularly gentle on heat-sensitive materials. The dried powder settles at the bottom of the tower and is discharged, while exhaust gas carrying fine particles is collected through cyclone separators and bag filters before being released. The equipment typically consists of a feeding system, hot air system, atomizer, drying tower, solid-gas separation system, and control system, enabling simultaneous drying and granulation. The resulting product features uniform particle size and excellent flowability, making it ideal for continuous production.
