The paddle dryer is a horizontal stirred drying equipment primarily based on heat conduction. Its core structure consists of a W-shaped shell with a jacket, inside which two (or four) hollow low-speed rotating shafts are installed, densely equipped with wedge-shaped hollow paddles. The required heat for drying is simultaneously supplied to the material through indirect conduction by the heat transfer medium—such as steam or thermal oil—flowing within the hollow paddles and the shell jacket. Since no large volumes of air are needed for heating, this equipment achieves exceptionally high thermal efficiency, typically exceeding 80% to 90%, saving 30% to 60% energy compared to convective drying.

The key advantages of this equipment lie in its unique self-cleaning capability and adaptability to various materials. The two paddle shafts rotate in opposite directions, repeatedly stirring, compressing, and relaxing the material with their inclined surfaces, automatically removing any material adhered to the heat transfer surfaces and thus maintaining consistently high heat transfer efficiency. This feature enables the equipment to handle not only granular and powdered materials but also highly viscous pastes and sludges with high moisture content. Additionally, the compact design provides a large heat transfer area per unit volume, allows flexible adjustment of material retention time, and, due to minimal gas consumption, results in low dust carryover and simple exhaust gas treatment.
