A flash dryer is a continuous drying equipment that integrates drying, grinding, and screening into one unit. Its working principle is as follows: hot air enters the bottom of the drying chamber tangentially and, driven by an agitator, forms a high-speed rotating airflow field. Wet material fed into the chamber is rapidly broken down, dispersed, and granulated through impact, friction, and shearing forces exerted by the impeller, achieving instant dehydration through thorough contact with the hot air. The dried fine particles rise with the airflow and are discharged via a classification ring, while oversized or under-specification particles fall back to the bottom for further grinding and drying.

The main advantages of this equipment include: short drying time—material residence time typically only a few seconds—with high production capacity; relatively high thermal efficiency, as drying, grinding, and screening can all be completed within a single unit, simplifying the process flow; adjustable product fineness and final moisture content through parameters such as the classification ring and impeller speed; compact structure with small footprint, supporting continuous and closed-loop operation. However, its disadvantages include: being a type of intensified fluidized drying, requiring larger fans and dust collection systems, resulting in relatively high overall energy consumption; intense internal motion of materials causing noticeable wear on components such as the impeller and inner walls; relatively complex equipment structure requiring higher maintenance standards; and the need for strict temperature and shear stress control when handling highly heat-sensitive or easily decomposable materials.
